The "1111" Millionaire Challenge (Part 1)

14th, 15th and 16th May 2010. Those 3 days transformed my life.

Robert Allen, renowned speaker, motivational coach and bestselling author of Multiple Streams of Income, Nothing Down, Creating Wealth and many other books, was in Kuala Lumpur to conduct his “Multiple Streams Of Income With Cash In A Flash” Workshop.  Bob had a goal for us – to create new millionaires by 1^st January 2011 from scratch!

During those 3 full days, Bob took us through multiple ways to create wealth. And covered each and every one of the four wealth creating vehicles in detail - Real Estate, Infopreneuring, Network Marketing and Internet Marketing. We each had to choose ONE subject to major in, learn everything we can about that subject, and master that chosen vehicle to create our first stream of income.

I chose Internet Marketing, something I knew nothing about. After all, isn’t the proverbial empty sponge supposed to be able to absorb and retain more knowledge and information? However, little was I to know of the painfully challenging journey ahead.

We were divided into respective teams, each team with 7 team members, to push, inspire and hold one another accountable till “1.1.11”. We were to meet once a week over Skype to track our individual and team progress, and our team leader was responsible for reporting to Bob.

Before the first “reporting” session, our team leader had resigned. No one else seemed interested in continuing with the weekly meets. Just like that, the team had dispersed.

One week after 16th May (last day of the seminar), I was feeling confused, disappointed and discouraged. There were so many unanswered questions. I had no more team. No idea where to start or what to do. Internet Marketing seemed daunting, overwhelming, extremely difficult and something I thought I would not quite get the grasp of.

The days passed by and I was nowhere near making my first dollar (much less becoming a millionaire)! That was seven months ago...

Needless to say, I totaled less than 5 hours sleep during the entire 3-day Challenge. One or two even slept in the training room! That was how committed and determined some of us were to learn and succeed.

65 of us came from different backgrounds and different countries – New Zealand, Australia, Ethopia, Singapore, Taiwan, UK, US, Bangkok and Malaysia. Yet all came with one goal in mind - to generate as much sales as we can in these 3 days, LIVE.

Day1 was spent learning the theories and instilling the importance of having the winning mindset, preparing us mentally for the challenges ahead. The second and third days were spent implementing the strategies we learned, finding out what works, what doesn’t, and what we can do better next time.

You Can Find Diamonds In The Rough

"You can find diamonds in the rough. They're out there. Just don't give up looking and keep digging." That was the main message I got from  Jeff Mills last night when I watched his short video interview, taken by Shaun Stenning during the break at the Global Internet Summit in Germany. 

Jeff Mills, Internet Marketing's renowned "outsourcing king" was referring to tapping into the right resources to find the ideal VA (virtual assistant)to work for you, and to make you plenty of money, so you have less to do. According to Jeff, the ideal VA is out there and does exist, all you need to do is to keep looking.

But I guess Jeff's words of wisdom are not limited to Outsourcing alone. It also extends to our journey in Internet Marketing, as well as other aspects of life. In any new misadventure venture, the road will be filled with bumps, glitches and potholes before we reach that pot of Gold. We must Focus on our Goals, make as many mistakes as possible, learn from them fast and keep going!

This advice couldn't have come at a better time for me. Recently, I have been accepted into Shaun Stenning and Vince Tan's  Mastermind Group, and excited as I am to be part of this elite group and learning from possibly two of the world's best Internet Marketers, I must admit the journey thus far has been interesting but can sometimes be a little overwhelming.

Search Engine Optimization. Backlinking. Niche Research. Buying Domains. Selling Domains. Building Websites. Creating Traffic. Driving Traffic. Converting Traffic Into Money. Ranking. Indexing. Sandboxing. Listbuilding. Opt In Pages. Squeeze Pages. Marketing. Outsourcing... the list is endless! Where does one start to do what? And how does one go about doing it? Understanding the basics of Internet Marketing is one thing, implementing it (successfully) is another story altogether.

All the hours slogging in front of the computer - learning, fumbling, struggling, tripping, falling. The lack of sleep. The many social invitations turned down. The blood, sweat, tears. They will be well worth it, one day. 

Like Shaun and Vince say, failure is NOT an option. As long as I keep going and never give up, I believe Success will be mine. It is just a matter of time.

When You Stumble Upon A Wall, Keep On Walking!

(Wanted to blog last night but was totally exhausted by the time I got back. It had been a long day, and a long weekend. The moment I reached home, I actually slept right away, after a quick shower. Shocker. And slept for 12 hours straight. Must have been really tired.) 

That was the opening line from Mr Dean Letfus, one of our mentors for Sni.pr, at the 2-day internet marketing training. Conducted by Dean Letfus and Matthew Stenning, this Twa.lk and Sni.pr workshop was packed with info, updates in social media and other exciting stuff in the fast changing world of internet marketing, revolutionary strategies, "tricks" and inspiration. These two gurus held nothing back as they shared with us all the different ways to make money online.

Dean opened the session on Saturday morning to a room packed with IMers new and old, stressing on the importance of having the right mindset. In fact, it was so important to set our mindset right, he spent one whole hour drilling this into our heads.

He told us to fail as many times as possible as fast as possible. Because, failing is learning. This way, we can shorten the learning curve and fail our way to success, faster. As long as we don't repeat the same mistakes, that is. 

After all, Thomas Edison did fail more than 10,000 times before he finally made a breakthrough with the invention of the light bulb.

We were also reminded that Attitude is what separates Winners from Losers. Winners create their lives. Losers let life happen to them. The choice is ours and ours alone.

Also, we have to reach massive frustration before we can achieve success. According to the world's number one motivational coach, Tony Robbins, "Massive frustration and massive effort - these are the keys to success".

Matt introduced a bunch of internet marketing jargon to newbies like us. SEOs. Social traffic. JVs. Affiliate marketing. Clickbank. Amazon. Adsense. Twitter. Facebook. Digg. Reddit. eBay. Directories. Blogs. Forums. And took us through a whole string of other terminologies and strategies.

We were also introduced to the concept of Domaining. What is that? Well, it is simply buying a domain name and listing it for sale. Just like one would do with a piece of real estate. This is exciting!

I will now implement what I learn until I succeed. All the knowledge in the world (and in our heads) will just remain as that, if we do not take action. 

After all...

Knowledge + Implementation = $UCCE$$ 

And, like Dean says, keep on walking. It doesn't matter if I hit a wall. Or a roadblock. If I keep walking, I will get somewhere, eventually.

When Things Just Fall Into Place...

Sometimes when you least expect it, fun things happen. Just like that. It was all just so...effortless. (There must be a Higher Power at play)!

After a sleep-deprived night and a full-day of exciting Internet Marketing training under Dean Letfus and Matt Stenning at Bukit Jalil Golf Club (will share more about what I learned, tomorrow), I received a message from my Art Of Living teacher.

PW has written a beautiful song that was inspired by our dearest Guruji (Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of Art Of Living Foundation) and asked me if I can help scout for music arrangements. Told her I got this cool friend who has a recording studio in KL, maybe he can help. So I hooked them up.

Before you know it, one thing led to another, and now we may have a potential recording session by mid next week! My friend with the recording studio agrees to help us with the arrangements, and also to let us use his studio. Thank you, T, you're amazing!

Am so excited - this song is like a breath of fresh air that will definitely inspire all at the next satsang (Sanskrit sat = true, sanga = company; Satsang = company of truth). Predominantly written in Sanskrit, this one song is sung in 3 languages - Sanskrit, English and a tinge of Mandarin. Simply beautiful. PW's soothing, melodious voice will definitely stand out here.

And, if I'm lucky, I may get some designer friends to help out with the design of the CD jacket. Can't wait to witness "history in the making" and be a part of the birth of this new creation :)

Will blog more tomorrow. Another day packed with IM training, learning more revolutionary strategies in line with the New Wave in Internet Marketing. Hope I can get more sleep than last nite.
